We ask for your name and email so we know who's testing, and can let you know about new versions and follow up on your feedback. Your e-mail and data remain confidential. The tool will remain free after beta. Your files save to your computer and can be exported to pdf format.
One more thing: the Terms
Before you download, please read and agree to the Terms of Service. In short: the beta is pre-release software provided as it is; keep your own backups; don't reverse engineer it or try to break into it; and while you can keep using what you download, we can't promise support, updates or compatibility with future versions of macOS.

Not sure which you have? Open the Apple menu › About This Mac. It says Chip: Apple M… for Apple silicon, or Processor: … Intel.
Installing
- Open the file you downloaded (Fabrication-…dmg) from your Downloads folder.
- Drag Fabrication into Applications in the window that opens.
- Open Fabrication from Applications or Launchpad. The first time, your Mac checks it with Apple and asks if you want to open an app you downloaded — choose Open.
- Start a project. The getting-started guide walks you through it.
What you need
- macOS 12 Monterey or later
- Apple silicon or Intel — there's an installer for each
- About 300 MB of space, plus room for your projects
Updates
Fabrication checks for a new version a little after it opens and every few hours. It downloads in the background and asks to restart when it's ready — or installs it the next time you quit. You can also choose Fabrication > Check for Updates….
What to know for the beta
- Your projects stay on your Mac. Each is a
.fabfile in a folder you choose (Documents › Fabrication, to start), with its revisions and notes beside it. - Publishing to Fabrication Live isn't open yet.
- Opening a .fab file back into Fabrication isn't built yet — keep working on projects in the app, where they are.
- Generating images needs your own OpenRouter account. Fabrication does not own the image generation services, does not receive money from their use and is not responsible for the results.
- Mac only for now. Windows and web app coming soon.
Something not right? Tell us — and see troubleshooting for where Fabrication keeps its logs.
Known issues
- Name recognition is a tad aggressive. We're working on it. For now, just ✕ out any extra names Fabrication suggests, and they'll disappear everywhere.
- Things can stack in the wrong order. Menus, cards and other pieces sometimes show up behind something they should be in front of. We're fast-bashing these bugs, but it doesn't hurt to file a bug report when you find one.
